7th stage of the TMB: from Forclaz pass to Montroc
Starting at the pass, head back on the trail you arrived on the day before. Take a small downhill path to the right leading to Trient. Cross the main road sticking to the path. When you get to Trient, cross the main road again (1) and take the small parallel path leading to Trient glacier. Cross over the Nant Noir and head down the trail leading to Balme pass. There are many twists and turns along the trail (2) and once you leave the forest you'll get a glimpse of Balme pass. The path overlooks the Nant Noir then you'll reach pastures. After the last twists and turns, you'll reach the French-Swiss border and the pass (with shelter (3)). Gorgeous view over the Mont Blanc range and Chamonix valley.
Head down the trail behind the shelter to the right, leading to Posettes pass and Balme chalets which you can see from the pass. Once you get to Posettes pass (4), take the path overlooking Balme chalets which is a trail that heads to the left of the official TMB track. Remain on this balcony trail, which further along winds downhill. You'll come across plenty of paths: keep heading in a general south-west direction (towards Tré-le-Champ). You'll come across the TMB again (5), take it to the left-hand side. The trail heads downhill. Once you get to "la Charleigne", remain on the TMB (don't go down the trail to the left). After a few bends, leave the TMB taking the trail to the left (6) heading towards Montroc (altitude 1500 m approx). You'll get close to a fenced off building (catchment area?).
A little further down, take a right. You'll reach Lower Tré-le-Champ's 1st chalets. Take a left, then left again via the Cutes. Shortly after the railway crossing take a right: you'll get to Montroc station, the bus stop is on a corner nearby, heading towards Chamonix.
End of the TMB, left with a few regrets due to lack of time: not having done Val Ferret through the ridges and the French part through the Brévent.
