A Walk Around Melbourn and Meldreth

We deviated to walk the footpaths that were shown on the map extract, that crossed the railway line and A10, did a loop near Melbourn and then returned. This deviation avoided the walk along roads in Melbourn, and was in open countryside.
The portion alongside the river is very pleasant.

Fantastic walk, though not that well explained. I've never seen so many thatched houses. This is a really beautiful area, and the walk through the nature reserve is wonderful.

With regard to the descriptions, I would add the following comments, which may help future walkers:

D/A: Assuming you have parked in Meldreth Station car park, the walk starts by going onto the railway platform itself, then crossing the passenger bridge to get to the other side, where you then cross the field. However you should note there is a cost to park in the station car park, even on Sundays, and one of the parking conditions is that you are using the railway, which you aren't. It might be better if the walk started somewhere between Points 1 and 2, where there is street parking.

1: We assumed the walk "through the village" was a right turn at the church, in fact it's a left turn. NB. I would probably avoid The Hub - there are endless Covid rules and regulations to follow.

3: It would help if the description said you turn left just after the children's playground. You then continue across Melbourn FC playing fields and then at the end, turn right. It's not clear from the description where exactly you turn right, we thought we might have gone completely wrong at this point (as we weren't sure we had taken the correct left turn earlier) but you eventually find yourself on a pathway which runs along the River Mel (the water of which is incredibly clear) and then under the A10.

The only other thing I would say is that this walk took longer than 1hr30, but we were with a young one which no doubt added some time. It is however ideal for children, as it's an easy walk.

In conclusion, I thoroughly recommend this walk, it's a beautiful area with lots of interesting things to see, so many thanks to whoever created and posted it here (despite my comments about the description!)
