Park your car in Warren Road.
(S/E) Head to the dead-end (at the end of Warren Road), then turn left when you see the information signpost. go past the litter and take the narrow footpath on your left. Enter the long field which goes down to Ornamental Water far away.
(1) Close to the bank, bear left following the path along the water.
(2) Walk this quiet way between Ornamental and River Roding for one mile before you reach a viewpoint to "The grotto" (probably built around 1760).
(3) Continue along the water for 600 metres before you bear right at the fork heading to the gate. Cross it and turn right still following the bank.
(4) Continue the path for 400 metres which leads to "The Grotto". Past this building in ruins, turn left at the fork to the narrow path which leads to the open field. Go across the field diagonally left heading to the café between Perch Pond and Heronry Pond.
(5) Go past the café heading to the crossroads with Northumberland Avenue. Before the avenue, take the path on the right (yellow arrow) which follows Heronry Pond.
(6) Continue this path around this Pond until you reach a junction (notice a signpost with permissive cycle access) close to the large field you went across before. Bear left to the path in the woods. Go straight for 500 metres until you join Warren road and your car. (S/E)
