Park your car in the free car park close to St John's Chapel of Ease.
(D/A) From the car park, go down towards the church and turn right in Fore Street for a few yards before you bear left in Spring field (dead end and public footpath signposts).
(1) At the end of Spring Street, go through the white gate and descend until you reach a fork. Bear right (slightly up) to the public footpath with the yellow arrow. Continue for almost half a mile before you cross two footbridges. Past the second one, turn right following the main footpath (Abbey Way) straight ahead.
(2) Ignore other paths until you go pass under a bridge. After this bridge, go past Glen Cottage and bear right at the next junction.
(3) Follow this large track in Cheristow Woods for half a mile going past a building in ruins. You finally reach a gate.
(4) Past the gate, bear immediately right entering the field (yellow arrow) heading to the two footbridges. Past the second one with gates, go up the path in woods for 300 metres which bends right along a fence. When you reach the driveway, turn right following this way along the football field and tennis courts. At crossroads, bear left in West street and go straight to "Local Services, free parking" signpost next to yellow houses. After a few yards, you are back at the car park.(D/A)
