The River Alde is little more than a stream until it nears Snape Maltings. Here the river becomes tidal and it broadens into a wide estuary. It’s a place of glistening mud and open water, filled twice a day by the incoming tide and rich in wildlife.

A half day walk exploring the Norfolk Broads. The route stars in Acle and then follows the River Bure north past Clippesby Drainage Mill to the village of Upton. The return route crosses fields back to the start and offers a chance to visit the lovely round-towered church at Fishley.
This walk in the Norfolk Broads expolores the waterways to the east of Acle including the River Bure and Tunstall Dike. The final section of the walk uses a section of the Weavers' Way long distance footpath. The route is generally easy to follow and as one might be expect for this area there is no uphill walking!
