England Coast Path - Blyth Harbour to Seaton Sluice

This section of the English Coast Path begins at the Quayside which hosted the Tall Ships in 2016, then continues through Ridley Park to the beach with its colourful beach huts, and then follows the Eve Black Way through the dunes to Seaton Sluice.

Description

(S) From High Quay, walk along the Quayside and into Quay Road which becomes East Park View.

(1) Enter Ridley Park (on your right-hand side) following one of the many footpaths exiting at the bottom left-hand corner of the park by the Play Park onto the B1329 (Belgrave Crescent).

(2) When going out Ridley Park, turn left and continue to walk down the B1329 (Wensleydale Terrace) onto Links Road.

(3) When you reach the junction for Beach Way and the Beach Way Car Park turn left and walk to the promenade, then turn right and walk along the seafront, the bandstand will be to your right.

(4) Carry on straight then leave the promenade at Blyth Battery, turning right and then left onto the cycle path. (Eve Black way). Follow this path straight ahead across the dunes all the way to Fountain Head Car Park in Seaton Sluice. (E)

Useful Information

  • Transport: You can park at Blyth or Seaton Sluice, from Blyth Bus Station/Freehold Car Park, walk down Bridge Street, cross the Roundabout into Quay Road which will take you down to the Quayside. Arriva 308/X7 and Go Northeast 309 from Newcastle to Blyth bus station all pass the Fountain Head car park in Seaton Sluice.
  • Facilities: There are public toilets in the Keel Row Shopping Centre near the bus station, Ridley Park and Fountain Head Car Park. There are a number of food outlets along Blyth Beach.
  • Accessiblitiy: This route follows the Eve Black Walkway which is part of the cycle path and runs for 3 miles between Blyth and Seaton Sluice which is paved all the way.
