Description

(S) Begin this walk at the Easington Colliery Car Park near the Pit Cage Monument.

(1) Walk under the railway tunnel. When you exit the tunnel, go straight forward and walk around the footpath which follows the cliff top. This will turn right and head back to the railway line along the top of Fox Holes Dene/ (There is an alternative path which follows the railway.)

(2) Turn left, the path skirts the railway line for a short distance and then turns left and follows the top of the ravine back to the cliff tops.

(3) The path turns inland at Warren House Gill then back out to the cliff tops. The path here skirts Horden Grasslands Nature Reserve but keep following the cliff.

(4) The path then turns inland again around Whitesides Gill and then crosses a footbridge at Black hills Gill.

(5) Continue walking along the cliff top pausing at the Little Tern Sculpture. After the sculpture, the path turns inland on your right around Limekiln Gill. Continue walking up Cotsford Lane to Limekiln Car Park or into Cotsford itself to catch a bus or train back to the beginning of the walk. (E)
