Putting walks on our websites

Hi
Me again! I notice that once I've created a walk there is a button above it that when pressed gives the code so the map can be inserted into another website. I haven't tried using this facility yet, but wondered how we were able to do this legally. I thought Ordnance Survey charged a fee for people to use their maps online? Could you clarify this issue for me?
Thanks.
Cate

Hi Cate,
Good question! The maps that we use on Hikideas are all available for free from Ordnance Survey, so there is no problem to put them on your website

Have read your answer re putting maps on a website.
I've created a walk using your website but the map produced in the PDF says ' Crown Copyright All rights reserved' This implies it can't be put on a website. Also there is a line saying ' Copy, sale distribution forbidden' so I am a bit confused.

Please can you or others help further with this.

Thanks,
Taith/Susan.

Hi taith,

As Sarita says : the maps we are using are available for free from Ordnance Survey, so there is no problem to put them on your website

The line saying "Copy, sale distribution forbidden" is about the full PDF file. Since we are the creator of the document, we protected it.

Hi Aurelie,
Thank you for your helpful reply.
I understand now that I can put the map on our website, but not the full PDF file.

I'm very pleased to have found Visorando, and will be trying some of the walks.

All good wishes,
Taith.

Taith,

You can put a link to the walk sheet on your website instead
I'm glad to read that ! By the way, how did you find Visorando ? on Google ?

Cheers,

Hi Aurelie
How I found Visorando:
I help to run the Walkers are Welcome group in our village Cilgerran.
Someone I don't know, Jamie Knop, sent us a message via our website suggesting we put a link to Visorando on our website. So I've been seeing what's on your site before I do this.

Trouble is, I can't remember how to set up the link, but will have to set to and work out how to do it.

best wishes,
Taith.
