The start is at the entrance of Saint-Michel d'Euzet. There is a small car park on the right, just at the entrance of the village.
From the car park, climb towards the village centre.
(1) At the washhouse and to the Byzantine-style church, turn left onto Place Jean Jaurès and continue onto Rue
Tuchins then Rue de l’Apparan towards Roque-sur-Cèze.
(2) At the end of Rue de l’Apparan, do not go straight onto the Chemin de l’Apparan but fork off to the
left towards Roque-sur-Cèze.
(3) At the cross, head down slightly to the left towards La Roque. The small road continues between vines, ignore a path starting on the right. Arriving at the RD980 (Route de Barjac drive), cut across and take the path opposite through the vineyards. A nice view over the village of La Roque over the vineyards.
(4) At the junction, turn left towards the village and along the Cèze. On the right is a
small restaurant for lunch by the river.
Take a right on Pont Charles Martel. The latter crosses the Cèze river and enters the village of La
Roque. Enjoy the headlands on either side of the bridge and admire the scenery.
(5) Turn right after the bridge and continue under the trees and enjoy the view of the village.
Along the banks you can have a picnic, rent canoes or bathe. Continue
on the right to a fork.
(6) At a fork, turn right onto Chemin du Plan. The walk is between hills and vineyards. For this
part, the path is marked (Yellow).
(7) At the intersection of Chemin du Mas, continue right on Chemin du Plan. At the T-junction, turn left. Reach a crossroads near the river.
(8) Here, the path is not marked. Turn left sharply on the path uphill. The walk is in a wooded area and the trail goes up for a few kilometres towards the castle, keeping south. At the fork, continue straight (south), the path climbs gently along the Serre of Gavot. Just after the ruined house on the left, you come to an intersection.
(9) Turn left and continue in the wooded area to the Château de la Roque. Warning: this is private property. Pass the outside wall and follow the path on the right.
(10) Take the path that climbs to the right and follow along the Serre de Martin. Turn left at the junction and head down to the village.
(11) At the town hall, turn right on Grand Rue.
(12) Turn right at the intersection and then left to reach the bridge over the Cèze and finish the loop around La Roque.
(5) Take the outbound path towards Saint-Michel-d'Euzet
