Nare Point Watch Station and Falmouth far away
Path leading to Porthallow
Toll point and Dennis Head from Nare Point
Gillan Creek from Flushing

Description

Park your car at Porthallow beach car park.

(S/E) Head to Pengarrock Hill, go past an old phone box and Beach House, then continue straight at Wreckers Corner house before you bear left towards Myrtle Garden Cottage. Then, follow the driveway on your right (white and blue Respryn House) which leads to the footpath at the end of this driveway (yellow arrows).

(1) Cross a wooden footbridge when you enter the wood, Follow this path for 1 kilometre, then you join a grassy path which leads to a road with a front black grid on the other side of the road.

(2) Turn left heading to a T-junction. Bear left "St Keverne" heading to another junction. Turn right to the hidden public footpath just before the next junction. Go through the stile, go straight across the field to another stile entering a second field. Go diagonally left (but follow the left hedge if farmed, it's easier) until you reach again a stile next to a large metal gate. Past the stile, go straight across the field towards the hedge in front of you to reach a stile again. Go straight towards the track you need to reach down this last field.

(3) Follow this track for 100m and turn left before the farm when you see a large metal gate and a stile. Go across this field following the hedge on your right until you reach another track. Bear right heading to farm building you can see far away. The road you follow bends left until you enter the farm.

(4) Turn right between buildings next to the blue grain elevator leading to a straight track. Past the metal gate, go down this field next to the hedge, go through a stile and continue down another field (a bit steeper) until you reach again a track, then finally a road.

(5) Turn right onto this road for 500 metres going past Tregithey house and Barn driveway until you take the public footpath on your left (few steps). Go diagonally right or follow the hedge if farmed (yellow arrow signpost on your way). When you join a road past a stile, bear left descending and enjoying Gallin Creek views.

(6) At the T-junction next to Halamana, turn right on "Coast path Porthallow" and walk along the quiet beach heading to the black wooden building.

(7) Unfortunately, past this black house, you need to bear right to a diversion path due to a cliff failure on the coastal path further away. Ascend this path in woods which leads a small road. Turn left onto this road and again left onto the path next to the cattle grid.

(8) Turn right and you'll be back on the coastal path and can admire Dennis Head on the left side and Nare Point on the right side.

(9) Go through a footbridge, your path joins a pretty large and flat track which leads to Nare Point Watch Station. From this point, the views are really beautiful! (Helford Estuary, Rosemullion Head...). Follow straight this pretty section of the coastal path overlooking coves (Nare, Fletching and Nelly's coves) until you reach Porthallow.(S/E)
