The Rocky Valley

Description

Park your car at Tintagel Long Stay car park.

(S/E) From the car park, head towards the Methodist Church walking Bossiney Road. Leave Molesworth Street on your left, then turn left before the SPAR and go past the toilets and the car park.

(1) Go down the path, cross the footbridge and turn right at junction signpost towards "Church & Cliffs". Then, cross over the track, go through the gate and go across the field. Bear right in the second field until you join the road. Ascend Vicarage Hill on your left for 300 metres (follow Glebe Cliffs) and take the path in front of you across the cemetery.

(2) Go past the church and take the path in front of you next to the picnic table and Glebe Cliff information signpost. You finally reach the South West Coast path. Bear right, then follow the yellow arrow heading to Tintagel Head and admire the Island. Ignore Tintagel Castle entrance and bridge on your left, go down the pretty steep path with handrail leading to the Beach Café.

(3) Go past the café and follow the coastal path overlooking The Haven below. Follow yellow arrows leading to Barras Nose. From this point, the view of Tintagel Island is really beautiful.

(4) Walk the coastal path following "Bossiney" and "Rocky Valley" signposts until you reach Willapark. From this headland on your left (300 yards), the view is worth a look too. Continue the coastal path going down a steep section, then go up the steps past the footbridge.

(5) When you reach the junction signpost, Go straight towards "Rocky Valley 1/2m, Boscastle 3 1/4". This beautiful section overlooks Bossiney Haven and Benoath Cove until you reach the Rocky Valley.

(6) When the path levels next to another direction signpost, follow "To road, Halgabron 1/3m" ignoring the footbridge on your left.

(7) Walk along the river for 200 metres, cross the footbridge leading to the remains of Trewethet Mill. The path goes past a few beautiful cottages until you reach Trevillett Mill Cottages and Bossiney Road at the beginning of the driveway. Cross over the main road and ascend the small road which leads to Halgabron.

(8) Go past Little Clifden, then Halgabron Farmhouse at the end of the village and turn right at the second footpath going up the low wall. Go across the open meadow until you go past the house in Fenterleigh. At the road, bear right, go past Thistledew entrance and turn left to the entry field when the road slightly bends right. Go straight across the field, go through two hedges and go diagonally left in the next field following green marks. When you finally reach Bossiney Road, bear left walking along the pavement until you join Tintagel Long Stay car park.(S/E)
