Description

Park your car at Hartland Point car park (private pay and display car park one kilometre after Titchberry).

(S/E) From the car park which overlooks Barley Bay, head to the Coast Guard Station and the aerial you can see far away. Take the footpath which leads to the Trinity House gate.

(1) Ascend the steep path on the left along the fence until you reach a beautiful viewpoint of Lundy Island, Hartland Point and the lighthouse below. This place is really impressive!

(2) Follow yellow arrows along the cliffs for almost one kilometre before you descend the grassy path along the fence. In the valley, cross the footbridge and go up the stairs. At the junction, bear right still following the coastal path for 200 metres until you reach a large gate. Don't go through the gate ignoring the coastal path but follow "Public Footpath" on the left which overlooks Smoothlands. Walk along the field and you finally join the coastal path again, close to the cliff edge.

(3) At the kissing gate, go straight down "Coast Path, Hartland Quay" ignoring the footpath to Blegberry on the left. The path goes steep down and goes up until you reach again a gate and signposts with yellow arrows before an open meadow. Leave the public footpath on your left and go straight towards the few steps in front of you next to the cliff edge.

(4) At the top of the hill which overlooks Abbey River Valley and St Nectans Church far away, leave the coastal path and bear left along the fence going across two open meadows.

(5) At the end of the second meadow, turn right (yellow arrow) and follow the track for half a mile before you reach crossroads with Berry House in Blagberry. Turn left heading to the metallic gate ("please close the gate" sign). Descend and ascend this quite steep track (can be very slippery during wet conditions!) which leads to Blegberry.

(6) Follow the road in the village which bends right for 300 metres until you reach two metallic gates (entry fields slightly left) and the Bridleway signpost. Turn left (blue arrow "to public bridleway"). Go down the path until you reach a signpost in woods.

(7) Go straight to "Blagdon", cross the footbridge and turn right at the next junction. The path goes up to Blagdon Farm. When you reach the road, go straight going past the heliport on your left to go back to the car park.(S/E)
