Description

(S/E) From the Town Square bus stop/car park, walk to St Hilda's Church. After visiting the church, cross the road (High Street) and walk down the footpath between Croft Gardens and the street of houses until you reach the pub and seafront.

(1) Check out the statue of Andy Capp beside the pub then cross the road. Weather permitting, walk along the pier to the lighthouse for a view across the harbour to the marina. When you are finished, retrace your steps back along the pier and turn right into York Place. Continue along the seafront into Albion Place and South Crescent until you reach the paddling pool and Heugh breakwater.

(2) If weather permitting, you can take a stroll along the breakwater on your right. When you are finished retrace your steps back to South Crescent and turn right.

(3) Continue walking along the promenade past the war memorial on your left until you reach the Heugh Gun Battery and Museum. After your visit to the battery, rejoin the promenade, you will now be walking in a north-easterly direction.

(4) Continue walking along the promenade (Sea View Terrace) until you reach Corporation Road, turn left and walk down Corporation Road passing the school and fire station. Turn left at the end of Corporation Road onto Northgate, passing the Old Public Library. Continue along Northgate until you reach the Croft Gardens Public Toilet.

(5) Turn right into Southgate. Continue along South Gate until you reach the gates, then turn left into Town Wall. Finish your walk by walking along Town Wall back to Northgate and then to St Hilda's Church (S/E)
