Houses at the end of Helford Creek
Beautiful thatched roofs in Helford village
Gillan Creek
Nare Point from St Dennis Head

Description

Park your car in Manaccan village.

(S/E) From the green bus shelter, follow Kensa Kew dead-end until you find a public footpath entering an open field. Walk along this field until you reach a road. Cross it over (slightly left) entering another field (if farmed, follow woods on the right). The path enters in woods, go through rocky steps and turn right at the junction.

(1) Go down a few steps and bear right again at the junction (yellow arrows signpost) until you reach another junction and a signpost with yellow arrows. This time, go straight to this muddy path in front of you ignoring KB signpost and the small footbridge on your left. You go past a thatched roof house and you arrive in Helford village.

(2) Bear left walking along Orchard Lane next to Helford creek enjoying this beautiful thatched roof houses when you go past Slipway cottage and Shipwrights arms. It's very lovely! If you want, you can continue straight onto the public footpath to "Helford Point and ferry". The view over the estuary is worth a look.

(3) Retrace your steps and cross the footbridge leading to the other side of the creek. Ascend this gentle road, go past a few cottages (Larch Cottage...) until you see the path at crossroads (between crossroads and the car park). Follow this path, go down the stairs and bear right onto the road until you join again the coastal path on the left when the road bends right. Enjoy this pleasant path in woods next to hidden coves following yellow arrows. You finally join open fields past steps, continue along the coast glancing at Toll Point on the other side of the estuary until you reach a junction.

(4) Follow "Headland loop 1/3m" to discover Dennis Head admiring views over Nare Point and Parbean Cove. When you are back at the junction at the end of the headland loop, go down the field following "Coast path, Gillan Creek" overlooking the creek and Flushing village. Go through the large gate and descend left ("flushing signpost") towards St Anthony church.

(5) From the church, bear left to the weak road (3T), then ignore the first path on your left (alternative route to flushing) but take the second one at Gillan Creek National Trust signpost along the water before you join the road again.

(6) The road leads to crossroads, turn right (Manaccan 1mile), for 100m and bear right onto the public footpath towards the concrete footbridge you see. When you join the road in Manaccan village, turn left then right in front of the church until crossroads. Look to the right, you are next to the bus shelter where you started.(S/E)
