This walk is part of the trek The Wakefield Way.
Easy walk from Henswmorth Bypass to Anglers Country Park using mostly Wakefield Way.
Start the walk at Hague Hall Roundabout at the junction of the B6422 and A628. There is a small parking area to the north of this roundabout.
(D) Take the footpath which runs parallel to the bypass, heading West. Keep on this path crossing two roundabouts. At the second roundabout crossover onto a signposted bridleway soon following the righthand edge of a field. At the gravel track turn left and after 30m turn right onto a path. Follow this path with the field boundary to your right, cross over a small stream and continue to a road. Cross a metal stile and turn right.
(1) Follow the pavement for approx. 400m into South Hiendley to a pond on the right. Just past the pond turn right onto a track and immediately bear right over a clapper bridge. At a track, turn left and go down to the left of a farm gate onto a path. Follow the field edge and then cross a stile onto a fenced path., over a track and straight on past the front of a school to the road. Turn right past the roundabout then fork right into Tun Lane. Turn left onto a track along the top of a ridge to reach Havercroft Business Park.
(2) Immediately after the footpath turn right following a tarmac track down to some houses. Turn right just before the houses and follow the tarmac path to a road. Turn right and go up the hill. Turn left onto Upper Hatfield Place and continue to the end onto a path on the right and then bear left. Follow this path eventually coming to an old railway.
(3) Turn right onto the old railway and continue to the road. Turn left then bear right onto a signposted bridleway. Continue to the road and keep straight on. Turn left at the T junction then turn right to Anglers Country Park. Turn right at the first footpath sign and go straight on through the trees to the lake. Turn left and follow the path to the car park and Visitors’ Centre. (A)
