Departure point: Le Beausset, road from Marseille, turn right towards the 'Circuit du Castellet, Zone d'entreprise de Signes' (Castellet circular walk, Signes Business Park) and immediately right towards the 'Maison des 4 Frères' (House of the 4 Brothers). Continue up to the car park on the left.

At the end of the car park, take the large path in the direction of 'Maison de la nature'.
Before arriving at this museum, at ref. point 362 (1), take the waymarked (pink and blue) path on the right. Follow this path and go past (on the left) the Bastide Blanche (2). Continue on towards the north-east.
At the fork (3), take the path on the right which climbs up to the plateau of the Tête du Cade. Head towards the south-east, ignoring the paths branching off on the right. At another fork (4), veer towards the left and climb in a north-easterly direction.
At the crossroads of the 4 paths (5), take the path to the right. The path circumvents the 'Tête du cade' (top of the juniper) on the south side, staying more or less at the same altitude. At ref. point 468 (6), take the left. On the following section of the path, make sure you take notice of the sea to the right!
At the crossroads between ref. points 522 and 535 (7), don't miss the very pretty small path to the left, waymarked in pink (but not shown on the map). After about 500 m, be careful not to miss the bend to the left (8). Don't carry straight onwards on the track, instead you need to find the small path (with a cairn), waymarked in pink, which heads off to the left. After a few metres, this path veers to the right and heads towards the west in order to meet up with the crossroads of 4 paths again (5), which we met on the outward journey.
This time take the right-hand path (northwards). After about 100 metres, you will meet a T-junction, take the left through the Vallon de l'Oure. Walk slowly through this small valley, a very enjoyable path, until you reach the fork (3), which we met before on the outward journey. Continue straight on, passing by the Bastide Blanche (2). Then veer towards the right and rejoin the Quatre Frères (Four Brothers) (1). Turn to the left to go back to the departure point.

Perched at an altitude of 800 metres, Mont Caume is one of the four Toulonais brothers which surround Toulon. It is certainly the highest; its summit is very dry as it's very exposed to winds and fluctuations in weather.
All these factors make ascending Mont Caume essential and well worth it.
The hike suggested here enables you to go all the way round the mountain and combines the pleasures of a very active route with the joys of a pretty much complete visit to both its summit and its slopes.
