Description

Park your car in Mawnan Smith close to "The Red Lion" (in Parc An Manns for example).

(S/E) From the pub, Follow Grove Hill, go past public toilets on your right and St Michael's church along the left pavement until you see a public footpath on the left (before school/children signpost). Follow this path which bends left at the fork close to the playground area heading to Carwinion Road. Turn right onto this road for 100 metres, then bear left to the public footpath "Meudon".

(1) Follow yellow arrows along fields, go through gates until you reach the farm and skirt buildings on the left side. Past gates you enter two successive fields, go down across them, cross a stream and follow a narrow path between fences which joins Carlidnack Lane. Turn right onto this lane leading to Maenporth public footpath in woods (can be wet and muddy). Cross the stream, keep the left side at the junction and again left at the fork until you see Maenporth Beach in front of you past a few steps.

(2) In front of the beach, cross over the road towards the coastal path slightly on your right. Go past a red building (Surf Life Savers), always keeping the left side when you join forks. This narrow coastal path between hedges leads down to a small footbridge and finally provides nices views. You can already catch sight of Rosemullion Head in front of you, even Pendennis Point and St Anthony Head far away on clear days.

(3) You finally reach the stunning Nansidwell Beach. Continue along the coastal path (follow "Durgan 3 miles") until Rosemullion Head viewpoint.

(4) From this head, you can see Nare Point and Dennis Head far away! Enjoy it! Continue this pleasant coastal path for one mile before you enter in woods going down the stairs (Mawnan Glebe NT signpost).

(5) In woods, try to keep the level path (don't go up or down). When you enter the meadow, go across targeting the low wall in front of you. In my opinion, it's better to leave the coastal path on your left to reach the beautiful views over the Helford River and Dennis Head past the low wall in front of you.
Continue down the field heading again to the coastal path, ignore the path on your right to Mawnan Old Church but walk along Porthallack. Then, go past Trerose private estate to reach Porth Saxon. At the end of the beach, you can see a house/building.

(6) Bear right to the path before this building following the pink arrow (Carwinion NT signpost). You go up in woods for 200 metres and go through the gate again in woods on the right at the junction (still following the pink arrow).

(7) You reach a small bridge over a stream. Cross it and go straight ignoring the left path. Ascend straight until Carwinion cottage. Go left towards the narrow path ignoring the gate on your left. You enter a residential area in Shute Hill past a small football field. Walk this road and take the public footpath next to the house n°8. Go past a playing field and turn left a the fork until you reach Grove Hill. Bear right for 200 metres heading to "The Red Lion".(S/E)
