Description

Start from Marley Common near the Serpent Trail.

(S/E) Follow the Serpent Trail until just short of Linchmere and, before coming to the road cut south to the Sussex Border Path. Meeting the path turn west to Lynchmere.

(1) Make a counter-clockwise circuit of the farms around the north of the village, following the edge of the forest south-east along Stanley Common until you reach the southern end of the village and cross the road to Cognor Wood.

(2) Head uphill until you reach a spectacular view to the south and head north over a field to the Sussex Border Path.

(3) Follow the SBP until you reach Marley Heights and descend to your starting point.(S/E)
