Gerrans Bay from Nare Head Kiberick Cove Nare Head from the path

Description

Park your car at Carne beach National Trust car park.

(D/A) From the entrance in front of the beach, turn left onto the steep road (follow coast path, Portloe 3 3/4m) for a few meters and climb stairs to your right. Past the gate, walk along the coastal path always keeping right side when you cross paths. Continue close to the cliff edge at a moment, then go past a footbridge until you reach a junction with yellow arrows signpost. From this junction, you can see Mallet's cottage in ruins on your right.

(1) Go straight ahead ascending this path leading to Nare Head viewpoint. The view over Gerrans Bay, Portscatho and Pendower beach is particularly beautiful. Continue along the coastal path, keep it to your right next to ferns until you reach a bunker. Read information because you will probably learn that these remains were a decoy site during the Second World War to lure enemy aircraft away from areas of strategic importance (Falmouth for example). Then, you can find another bunker (ventilation shaft) used during the Cold War.

(3) From this site, head to the cattle grid in front of you and follow the track which leads to Kiberick cove car park.

(4) Past the entrance, turn left onto the asphalt path (for the disabled) then quickly right going through the gate. Go across the open meadow along the low wall until you reach a kissing gate. Enter the grove, go past a stile and go down the path in the middle of ferns until you reach again the junction with Mallet's cottage.

(1) This time, bear right and go back the way you have come heading to the car park.(D/A)
