Kynance Cove at sunset
Lizard Lighthouse
Lizard Point and old the lifeboat station
Pentreath Beach

Description

Park your car at the main large car park in Lizard village (close to The Regent Café).

(S/E) From the car park, follow "Lifeboat Station" signpost, walk the road going past Lizard Argyle FC then bear left at the fork and right at the next one towards "Church Cove 1/4" (dead-end) until you reach the public bridleway on your right next to a farm. Follow this track, go past "The Cart House".

(1) Continue on Green Lane overlooking the coast on your left for almost one kilometre and leading to a wooden gate which joins the South West Coast path.

(2) Go straight ahead you will see Bugaled-Breizh commemorative plaque walking around Bass Point Station. Then you can see impressive cliffs and catch sight of Lizard Lighthouse far away until you go past Housel Bay Hotel on your right. Continue down the path.

(3) Turn left at the T-junction following the yellow arrow heading to Housel Cove. Follow the coast path lower down the lighthouse until you reach the famous (and very touristic!) Lizard Point.

(4) Before you continue your way along the coastal path, go down the steep road close to gift shops if you want to glance at an old lifeboat station in this impressive place. Retrace your steps, bear left to the coastal path at Wavecrest Cafe following "Kynance Cove 2 1/2m" signpost leading to Old Lizard Head.

(5) Go past an isolated bench with perfect views, then go down steps and go up next to Caerthillian Cove still keeping the path on your left overlooking the stunning Pentreath Beach until you reach a viewpoint over Kynance Cove, a very lovely spot.

(6) Don't go down to the cove and the cafe you can see below but descend the narrow stone path (rebuilt), bear left onto the large track and immediately to the right (high tide route signpost) climbing this hill above the café.

(7) You join again a track, climb it to the right and take a short cut (blue arrow).

(8) Continue on the track and turn left at the corner with Kynance Cove car park. Follow this path for 500 metres until you reach the road. Bear left, then take the footpath when the road bends left heading to a big stile in front of you. Go straight ahead to the path across these open fields until you reach Pentreath Lane and Lizard car park.(S/E)
