Description

(S) Park at the restaurant next to the Chez la Jode farm. Take the path across the field to the track and turn left. Follow the track past the start of the wood to a signpost on the left for the 'Sentier de Découverte'

(1) Follow the well made path (wooden walkways where the ground is boggy) through the woodland. There are information boards telling you about the flora and the formation of bog terrain. The start of the walk is also a good place to pick wild bilberries/myrtille. The woodland path will bring you to a junction with a better track at (2).

(2) Turn left and follow the track passing a junction on the right (3) to a second junction where a path leads you to the Monument des Glières. This is a place of remembrance and reflection, please be respectful.

(4) From the monument, follow the track to the obvious building opposite at the Col des Glières. There are good views from here and panoramic boards name the mountains surrounding you. (5).

(5) Return to the monument and retrace your footsteps to the junction in the track at (3)

(3) Turn left and follow the trail passing information boards about the history and also geology of the plateau. You will pass Le Gérat which is the site of the infirmary used by the resistance fighters. Follow the path via a few turns to the track/road from the Cold des Glières.

(6) Turn right and follow the track/road back to the car park passing (1).
