Porth Mellin from the cliffs
Mullion Island
Vellan Head

Description

Park your car at Predannack National Trust car park (next to Windyridge farm).

(S/E) Head to stone steps at the corner of the car park, continue the path between hedges leading to a stile. Go across an open meadow following arrows signpost until you reach the South West Coast path in front of Parc Bean Cove.

(1) Bear right and walk along this beautiful path overlooking the bay until you reach the first viewpoint over Mullion Island with Porthleven far away (on clear days). Continue for one mile and you will discover Porth Mellin at the bottom. Keep the coastal path (always left side) descending to Porth Mellin.

(2) At the end of the path when you reach houses, bear right towards the track which joins a footpath next to the last house. Enter the woods until you reach a junction. Go up straight to the track in front of you for 300 metres.

(3) Turn right to the narrow passage between two metal gates. Go across the field walking along the hedge on your left. Then, the path goes across bush for 250 metres and reaches again fields.

(4) Continue still keeping left along the hedge, go past a stone cross and enter another field until you reach a house and the road. Go straight onto the road for 100 metres and bear left to the track before the private property (public footpath signpost). Go past the farm and go across the field heading to a narrow road. Turn right onto this road which leads to the car park.(S/E)

Good parking area and a walk with a fantastic view, can recommend extending it slightly by leaving the left of the carpark and rejoining the path at the top of the hill to take in the view of the Cove.
