Porthkerris beach from the path
Towards Porthallow
Porthoustock beach

Description

Park your car in Porthoustock next to the play area and the beach.

(S/E) Walk a few meters to the west and then turn right when you see an old phone cab.

(1) From the old phone cab, head towards the track which goes past the isolated thatched-roof house. Continue this track overlooking the pebble beach until you reach a metal gate with Porthkerris Farm information. As written, follow this permissive footpath but be careful about quarry workings.

(2) When you reach a junction with the rock quarry, ignore a path in front of you but bear left to the large track ascending leading to a fork next to a cattle through.

(3) Leave the ascending track and turn right onto the path next to this cattle through. The path is not very well marked but continue straight among ferns, you can already catch sight of PorthKerris beach, continue down the slope which leads to the railway remains. Walk along the beach and turn left to Porthkerris divers house and go up the road (ignore the left road)

(4) Go past the wreck, continue this road for 350 metres and bear right onto the third track on your right. From the road, you can see a large metal gate far away. Past the gate, go diagonally left across the field enjoying the nice view coast until you reach a stile. The narrow path leads to another stile and finally overlooks Porthallow Cove before you arrive in Porthallow village.

(5) From The Five Pilchards Inn, bear left to the road for half a mile, then turn left at the yellow arrow signpost next to Fat Apples Cafe. Walk straight along buildings until you see a big "Coast Path" sign. Follow the South Coast path, leave the track and follow the narrow path in woods on your right past the handrail. At the road, go straight still following the yellow arrow, then turn left at crossroads until you join again the path in front of you when the road bends left. Go down the path in the open field offering a nice view over Porthoustock. Go past thatched-roof houses until you reach the road which leads to the village on your right.(S/E)
