Ramsbury walks

This circular walk brings you to visit Axford area along River Kennet.

Wide downland views, woodland edge and a stroll through the historic village of Froxfield.

Along the towpath to Little Bedwyn, returning via farmland and parkland with distant views.

Although just outside the valley, this walk gives access to very different countryside, with a number of features of interest, some lovely views and snowdrops and bluebells at the right time of year. The walk includes a number of steepish hills.

The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from NE to SW. The Stage 6 is a short walk as you will probably have to continue a bit further to get a place to stay and maybe head to Swindon or Trowbridge for onward travel. The countryside is a mixture of arable land, changing colour with the seasons, and areas of sheep or cattle grazed grassland. Some of the best views are from Smeathe’s Ridge as you climb gently up to Barbury Castle.

This circular walk brings you to visit Great Bedwyn area along the canal towpath, via Wilton Windmill and woodlands.

Walk along the River Dun, visit Chilton Marsh then come back via Leverton.

Starting from Great Bedwyn the route takes you past the Croften Beam Engine to the Windmill at Wilton.

The Lambourn Valley Way is a delightful 32km (20 mile) mile walk, from the Ridgeway at Uffington Castle to Newbury. This route describes the second part of this walk, from Lambourn to Newbury, including an optional visit to Donnington Castle. It mostly follows the bank of the River Lambourn or the route of the dismantled Lambourn Valley Railway.

The Lambourn Valley Way is a delightful 32km (20 mile) mile walk, from the Ridgeway at Uffington Castle to Newbury. This circular walk goes from Lambourn to the Ridgeway past Ashdown House, along the Ridgeway past the ancient monuments of Wayland's Smithy and Uffington Castle, and returns to Lambourn along the Lambourn Valley Way.
