(S/E) From Harts Lane car park head East back to Mill Lane entrance. Take footpath North (left) along Mill Lane.
(1) Turn East (right) along Stoney Brow Track downslope past the site of St Josephs College. Upon reaching Stoney Brow road turn North (left) along the footpath.
(2) Carefully cross Stoney Brow to take farm track East (right) downslope enjoying good views to Winter Hill. Turn South (right) to follow Lafford Lane South. Follow footpath beside golf course southeast (left) beside the gateway.
(3) Cross golf course path and turn immediately northeast (left) along the first path into the trees then downslope to follow Dean Brook keeping brook on your right. Cross first of pair of footbridges and continue NE along Dean Brook keeping brook on your right. Continue to follow Dean Brook North keeping to the path closest to stream and stream on your right.
(4) Upon reaching gate with 'Private' follow path footpath West as it curves upslope along field boundaries.
(5) At end of the footpath take the permissive path through the goat and goose compound. Upon reaching Bamk Road follow it West (left).
(6) Upon reaching the restaurant car park, refreshments available here, take path South (left) between houses. Just before the path reaches the stream turn West (right) and follows the path beside the stream past 'African' wildlife into the village.
(7) Briefly head South (left) along Roby Mill Lane. Just beyond the cemetery car park take the path West (right) beside the house and into the meadow.
(8) Upon reaching Farley Lane follow it briefly West (left). On sharp left turn take footpath North (right) along Private Road. Continue North towards Stone Hall
(9) Leave farm track by taking footpath NW (left). At the 'Private' sign leave the farm track and head northeast (right) along a path flanked by bracken. Turn NW (left) to continue upon path along the field boundary and cross Long Heys Lane. Follow path southeast (left) beside and across ravine then upslope to Ashurst Beacon.
(10) Enjoy the views West over Mersey Estuary to Wales before taking the path South down to Beacon Lane. Carefully cross Beacon Lane and pass through the car park to pick up the path on the Southside of the car park. Continue South on the path initially close to the golf course before joining the gravel path on the golf course. Leave golf course by taking the permissive path to the East (left) of the fairway and follow it south parallel to the golf course.
(11) Take substantial track West (right) in front of the golf clubhouse. Turn South (left) to enter Beacon Country Park via the metal gate and follow the path South.
(12) Take substantial cobbled track, Harts Lane, northeast (left). Follow the bend in the path as it turns East (right). Follow path East as it passes through the wall back to the car park.(S/E)
