Description

Park at Blackwater car park.

(D/A) To start the walk, go under the oak archway, cross the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and go straight until you reached a gate.

(1) Track goes straight through Blackwater Arboretum but you can also make the whole loop if you want to see more tall trees.

(2) Turn right on the obvious path. Then, take the second path on your right, which is made with grass. At the end of the path, turn left to reach the official Tall Trees Trail.

(3) Turn right, cross Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and walk back to the car park.

This route starts from Freshwater Bay and visits the Tennyson Monument before continuing to the Needles at the Far end of the island. The route also offers a good view of Alum Bay and on the final descent a grand panorama looking east along the coast to St Catherine's Point.
