Description

From Port Vendres, follow the road to Cap Béar lighthouse (go around the commercial port and then follow along the coast to Cap Béar). Park next to the semaphore gate or at the foot of the lighthouse.

The path begins just opposite the entrance gate of the semaphore (direction signs). Follow the direction of Port Vendres.
A little further on, the path splits into two (1) take the left-hand path (heading away from Port Vendres).
After a short distance, the path splits into two again (2), take the path on the right.
You will eventually reach a track (3).
Turn right and follow the track until you reach a path that leads down to the left alongside the vineyards (4).
Keep following the path down until you reach the sea, almost at Paulilles beach (5).
Take the path to the left, and head back along the coastal path with yellow waymarks until you reach Béar lighthouse (6).
Take the left-hand path to head back to the semaphore and the car park.

Useful Information

Although the return journey may be by the sea, you will still need appropriate footwear (if you don’t want to get a sprained ankle!).

Always stay careful and alert while following a route. Visorando and the author of this walk cannot be held responsible in the event of an accident during this route.

During the walk or to do/see around

Personally, I did this walk on a Saturday night in the middle of the summer. The views were amazing, even by night, and we even got to see fireworks above Banyuls sur Mer! (just make sure you take head torches).
Before or after the walk, you can also enjoy the classified site of Anse Paulille (where there once used to be an explosives factory) and go on a tour of the artisanal vinegar factory, La Guinelle, in Cosprons.

Park at the lighthouse as there's a good car park .. you'll thank me in the end.. The left turn at point 4 is alongside some concrete bollards. Ignore the paths either side of the vineyard wall take the path beyond these two. A great little walk
