(S/E) Turning left out of the Museum, at the cross-roads, turn left on to Monkton Street. The Railway Inn is a couple of minutes walk at the corner with St Johns Road. Coming out of the Railway, ascend St Johns Road up towards Ryde town centre. A good 10-15 minute exercise on the calf muscles !
(1) Go all the way to where the High Street crosses, turning right into the shops, carrying on into the pedestrian only area. Follow the main shopping thoroughfare, as it then turns into Union Street and descends towards the seafront and esplanade. The King Lud is at the bottom of the hill opposite the train station. Next to the Solent Inn.
(2) Turn right out of King Lud along the esplanade and at the roundabout, cross over and but then walking a matter of yards up Dover Street (which comes off the roundabout) turn into East Street, in an easterly direction, away from the town. Within a few minutes, Monkton Street dissects East Street and the Solent Inn is your next stop! Walk along Monkton Road to where Park Road dissects, turn left and you are back at the museum. (S/E)
