Description

(D/A) Start in the car park at the Stanley Ferry Pub. Walk around the pub to the bottom car park and enter the canal towpath via the path in the bottom right corner.

(1) Cross the metal footbridge (Ramsden’s Bridge) – and turn right. Continue on the canal side as far as Harrison’s Bridge.

(2) Cross the bridge and turn right immediately in front of the metal barrier and walk diagonally across the field (gentle climb) to the top of Park Hill where there is a picnic area.

(3) Walk down the track bearing left at the fork passing a high electricity pylon on your right. At the next pylon, bear left and follow the dirt road to the lake. Bear right and follow the track between two lakes.

(4) At the junction of Balk Avenue turn right onto a narrow green path alongside the lake. Keep right at the fork. This passes through a lightly wooded area and emerges onto the canal towpath at Ramsden’s Bridge. Turn left and walk back along the canal towpath back to the start point.(D/A)
