Description

(S/E) From The INN For All Seasons entrance on the main road, turn left and walk past the garage to the crossroads.

(1) Turn right onto a single-track lane and walk 100 yards before joining a footpath on the left. Head half-right across the field. In the next field, keep on in the same direction, to reach a wide grassy track by a waymark post and telegraph pole.

(2) Cross the track and cut the corner of the field beyond, still heading in the same direction (South-East). Cross a fourth field on the same diagonal bearing, before swinging right in the far corner to meet the B4425.

(3) Take a few steps to the left then cross over and follow a bridleway opposite along a field edge. Bear slightly left down the valley, before switching to the other side of the hedge through a gate and continuing in the same direction.

(4) At the end of the field, turn right and climb out the valley side for 100 yards, before turning left along a wide grassy path with a fence on the left. On reaching a concrete driveway, go straight on along the gravel drive opposite. Turn left through a metal gate into a narrow path that emerges at the bottom of the churchyard.

(5) Having visited the church, exit the churchyard and walk down the drive to reach the main village street by the pond. Turn right and walk through the village. Some way beyond the last house, turn right along a narrow lane signposted to Aldsworth and follow it for three-quarters of a mile as it climbs and then descends to the B4425.

(6) Cross the road and follow a bridleway along a field edge opposite, to enter a wood. Head straight on, passing through a grove of cypress trees, before emerging through a gate into open fields. Follow the track along the hedge to the isolated stone-built barn ahead of you.

(7) Beyond the barn, keep on along the hedgerow until (before a wood) you meet the diagonal path you followed earlier at a waymark post. (2) Turn left and retrace your steps across two fields to the lane.

(1) Turn right to rejoin the main road; cross over and turn left, passing the garage on your way back to the Inn for All Seasons. (S/E)
