Description

(S/E) From Winlatter Forest Visitor Centre car park, take the path via the bird sculpture towards the visitor centre. Having passed the cafe, follow the path North up the slope. Continue North along the path via the play area. Upon reaching the wooden mouse sculpture, branch left (North-East) off the substantial path onto a forest track.

(1) Upon reaching the wide forest roadway, take time to admire the view South over Keswick and Derwent Water from Gruffalo picnic area before crossing the roadway to follow the track North up the slope. Continue to follow the path as it turns left (West). At a small clearing turn sharply right (North-East) onto a small track. Continue North-East along the track.

(2) Take the path left (North) as it curves around Ullister Hill. At the next junction, head right (North) off the main path up the slope to follow the narrow winding track. Follow the path as it initially heads North then East making its way around Ullister Hill.

(3) Eventually, take the trail head and go South-East through woods.

(4) Ascend to Seat How to admire views over Keswick and Derwent Water. Then, follow the path down the slope initially North and then winding South. Continue down the slope North-East until reaching substantial forest roadway. Upon reaching the forest roadway, turn right (South) along it. Follow the track as it bends briefly left (North-East).

(5) When the roadway bends right (South), enjoy the good views over Derwent Water to the North. Then, continue South-Westerly along the forest road. Follow the upper roadway as it bends right (North-West).

(6) Continue along forest roadway as it turns left (South). Continue on upper roadway South. Follow the roadway as it bends right (South-West). Continue West by the alpaca field. Then continue South-Westerly on the road below the cafe back to start at the Winlatter Forest Visitor Centre car park. (S/E)
