Description

From the station car park go left under the bridge and follow the Whitegate Way until you see the old railway gates.

(1) Look out for an opening on the right-hand side. At the first junction, turn right. Then, take the next turn on the left.

(2) Follow the path on your right-hand side as far as the carrot field and cross it diagonally following the pathway. After the style, a short passage will lead to a driveway.

(3) Turn left until you reach Dalefords Lane and turn left again once you're on the lane. Then, take the first path on your right.

(4) Go left and cross into the woods. Follow the wide bridleway for a while until you see a green signpost on your right.

(5) Take right on Cockpit Lane.

(6) Take left and walk along the field. Cross Dalefords Lane. At the end of the path, turn left into the sandpit and take the path at the bottom right corner of the sandpit. Follow it as far as Kennel Lane.

(7) Follow Kennel Lane until the next junction.

(8) Turn left and walk past the farm.

(9) Take right just before the small lake. Follow the path until to reach the Weaver Parkway road and carry on until you reach the station carpark.

Lovely walk, just under 5 miles, bit muddy in places as we had had heavy rain a few days beforehand. As another reviewer said, I found I needed to download and use the gpx file as I don't think I would have been able to follow the directions successfully without them. Note : there is no carrot field now! It would appear to be maize.

Lovely varied easy walk.

If you don't use the grid references, the description is inadequate at several points. Can be overcome with the use of an OS map.

Know this area well, took 1h 45 with 2 young children 5&8. Didn’t feel route marched, all chatted happily and enjoyed the amble, getting out on a very wet but lush and green day!

I really enjoyed this walk - varied countryside to walk through & good paths in the main. I am doing this walk with a group in Sept as walk leader so I am looking forward to seeing what they think of it.
Suitable for most & my group vary in age & mobility - good facilities at the start & finish point too.
