I am always cautious about walks that involve "crossing several fields". Often you find the surface of them churned up by the animals using them so that they are above the "normal" level of muddiness that you expect on public footpaths. This walk is a case in point. It would help if the author gave a better indication of the direction to follow and whether you were aiming to arrive at a stile or a "kissing gate" which were often over the visible horizon. It would also help to have noted in points (2) and (3) that you are following waymarkers connected to the "NCW"(the North Cheshire Way) which are sometimes nailed to tree trunks rather than on posts.
It is also worth noting that Lumb Farm has a loud barking dog that could be intimidating as the public footpath seems to go through the property and not around it.
