Description

(S/E) From the Wynnstay Arms turn left onto Park Street; pass the primary school and cross the bypass bridge. Turn immediately left along a footpath between the A483 and back gardens.
Follow the path round to the right and ignore a path to the left. At the end of the gardens, go through a gate and climb the left-hand side of a field.

(1) On meeting the Wat’s Dyke Way at the top of the field beyond a kissing gate, turn right along the field edge (sometimes overgrown). At the main road (A539), cross and turn left to the main entrance to Wynnstay Hall.

(2) Turn right between the lodge houses, then after 50 yards turn left at a waymark and follow a path diagonally up the hill. Cross a field boundary and continue in the same direction to a stile into woodland.
The path through the trees emerges into a driveway by some houses; turn left.

(3) Turn right beyond the lodge house and follow Rhos Y Madoc road for 1⁄4 mile. Beyond a house called Keeper’s Corner, turn left down a side road. Pass a farm entrance on the right, then take a signposted footpath between two houses on the right.
Beyond the gardens, cross a field and go through a gate into a farm track.

(4) Turn left along the track to a bridge over a stream. Climb the field beyond, rounding a wooded pond on your left to meet the Wat’s Dyke Way at the top; turn right and cross a stile with a fingerpost.

Bear right, past a second signpost, and follow the field edge past a pond on the left and over a stile. Cross a concrete track and another stile and bear half-left to a waymark post. Go through a gateway to the right of a tree, and follow the left-hand field edge beyond.
A stile in the corner leads to a surfaced driveway; turn left to the road at Quoin Cottage (turn right for an optional visit to the church).

(5) Otherwise, pass Quoin Cottage and follow the road for 250 yards to a junction, where you turn left. Pass Crabmill Cottage, ignoring the footpath opposite. When the road bends left, take the track straight ahead, which bends right past a house.
At a second house at the end of the track, bear right through a hand-gate into a field.

(6) Follow the field edge to a gate into a wood. Cross a track within the wood and continue to a gate and stile. Cross the field ahead, aiming left of a farm to emerge on the main road.

(7) Cross and turn right for a short distance, then turn left onto a quiet lane. Follow the lane for 500 yards to a junction, where you carry straight on for a further 1⁄2 mile.

(8) Shortly after a barn on the right, turn left along the concrete track to Moreton Farm. Follow the track left of the farm, then turn left in front of a slurry pit beyond the last building. Beyond a gate and stile, bear right up the field to the far right-hand corner.
Climb the left-hand of two stiles and follow the field edge beyond. After a stile in the corner, turn left. Bear right and descend within a small wood to a gate into a track.

(9) Follow the track past some allotments, bending left and right to cross the A483 bridge. Continue to a road junction, where you go straight on, passing a school to meet the High Street. Turn left to return to the Wynnstay Arms. (S/E)
